Wooden Sword, Bible Stand and Bible
In 2012 Gary & Pam Hine interrupted their Outback Ministry work to stay in Roma for Gary to be our interim Pastor. The Big Floods hit Roma in February 2012 and Gary and Pam not only helped the Church members who were affected by these floods, but went out into the community and assisted and counselled many other families who were doing it extremely tough after having their homes affected by floodwater for the third year in a row. God placed them here for that time. They were also a part of many other Community functions during their year of ministry in Roma. Many will remember their time spent here in Roma, living in their Caravan parked at the back of the Church. When leaving Roma to continue their Outback Ministry, they presented the Church with a handmade wooden sword which has been placed on the eastern wall of the Church with a plaque engraved with the Bible verse from Hebrews 4 v 12 : “God’s Word is sharper than any double edged sword”. With thanks Pam & Gary Hine
The Silky Oak Bible Stand holding the big Bible (King James Version) has been a part of the Church for many years. Not exactly sure when this was given to the church or by whom, but appears to be made from the same wood as the Pulpit and the Communion Table. In the Arthur Street Church this Bible was read from each Sunday and during the service there would be 2 readings – one from the Old Testament and one from the New Testament.
God’s Word is sharper than any double edged sword!
